Carter on the play gym
fighting with the splat

had enough! trying to roll over.

This week I didn't take my camera out that much, so I don't have that great of pictures to share with you all. I was thinking today that I should write out the foods that we have given Carter so I can look back and know what he had first, what he liked and didn't like. This might be boring for some of you to read so feel free to skip past. I just want to document this for my sake.
Foods in order of introduction.
Rice cereal - not a fan if it is plain
Pears- likes
Applesauce- likes
Bananas- likes
Sweet potato- likes
Squash- likes
Peaches- likes
Carrots- likes
Oatmeal- likes it mixed with other foods
Blueberry- huge fan!
Prunes- not his favorite but will eat them just the same
Peas- uneasy at first, but liked them ok. Likes them better mixed with an orange veggie
Green beans - uneasy at first, but likes them ok. He also likes these mixed with others.
Pumpkin- likes
Cauliflower - ok
Plums- likes
Yogurt - likes
Chicken meal from a jar- not a fan
Mac and cheese from a jar - not a fan
(I found a few meat things on sale and thought I would try them. I might try pureeing my own)
Things I would like to still try:
Broccoli, corn, beans, and pureed meat. Anyone else try other things I am not thinking of?
He has also had bite of things that chad and I eat. There is a funny story from the week. For Easter Carter got some of the Gerber puffs. He tried hard to pick them up but has a hard time getting them in his mouth. So we gave a few to him and he liked them. It took a little while to keep him from choking but he seems to understand how to do it now. But since he can't get the puff in his mouth with his hands, he leans his head down toward the tray with his mouth open hoping some will hop in. It is so funny to watch. If I can catch it on tape I will. That is about all I have this week. Sorry. Carter and I start swim lessons this week together which I am super excited about! I will post about that later.

Easter

I hope everyone had a happy Easter. Carter's first Easter went well. He was excited to have new toys and things to put in his mouth and to have a lot of attention from family. We started off the day with breakfast at church. Then we went to the 11:00 Easter service and went home for a brief minute to pick up a few things. We then headed out to Grandma and Grandpa Scribners house were we had a nice lunch with them and Carter got some good bonding time. We then stopped home again to take care of the pugs and headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Niebuhr's for dinner. The triplets did an Easter egg hunt and then carter got to look though some goodies. We ate a delicious meal and it was time for bed. By about 6pm Carter was all Eastered out so we got him ready for bed, fed him his bottle and to bed he went. He had a great first Easter! Chad and I had a good time too although we were exhausted by Sunday night. I experimented by making a bunny cake and a few other Easter foods that made for a lot of dishes. I think we cleaned the kitchen 10 times this weekend. We also spent our Friday night cleaning the house and doing laundry which took quite a bit out of us after having a long week. The main reason we are tired is because for some reason Carter stopped taking naps. At on point this week he had only taken 3 30min naps which is not enough for him. He was usually taking at least one- 1 to1 1/2 hour nap day plus two other 40 minute naps. We are really hoping it was phase or teething or something. The good thing is that on Sunday he took about 1.5 hour nap in the afternoon and he took a 1.5 hour nap this morning, so maybe he is getting back on track. All I can say is a crabby baby that doesn't want to sleep makes for a crabby Scribner home. The good thing with all of this it that it hasn't messed up his night time sleep. He is still sleeping 11 hours or so at night, and I know we are lucky to have that. I posted a slide show of pictures. I have some good video clips I might try and put on here a little later when Carter is asleep.

Carter in the tub

Wrestling Match

Carrie just sent me this picture and I had to share it on the blog. It is so cute! Thanks Aunt Carrie! (by the way, Carter dominated that wrestling match! Noah might have 10lbs on Carter but he has a lot of scrap! :) haha

Nice Weather

This last week was a beautiful one. We had several nice days which meant we were able to get out of the house for some fresh air. As you can see we were able to go to the park for the first time. I thought it was going to be a huge hit but it was only good for the first 10 minutes. I am not sure if it was the wind that bothered him or if he was just tired but he was very happy and content in the swing for 10 minutes and then I could not get him to stop crying. We walked around and watched the other kids but he wanted nothing of it. So we headed home. He did enjoy the swing while we were there though.

We were also able to go on several walks. This one was in the evening and it was starting to get cold again but several days during the week we went for a walk and took the dogs and it was beautiful out. We got to talk to neighbors and see other dogs and I think Carter enjoyed it.

Carter has also been changing by leaps and bounds this last week. I feel like he is really starting to perfect sitting and would like to think he will have mastered it in the next few weeks. He has also started to realize that his body can move him towards toys and he can travel. Instead of crawling, he lays on his back tips his head back and pushes with his feet. He can go pretty far this way but I am not fond it. I would really like him to crawl instead of rub a bare spot on the back of his head. It is so neat to see him start realizing all the things his body can do. He is standing well (not on his own) but seems to be getting stronger and getting more trunk control everyday. He has even started rolling from front to back more. Yes folks my 7 month old child just hit his 3 month developmental milestone! :) He is having some positive attempts at tummy time as well. I feel like in the next month or so he is going to take off. I was beginning to think my baby was going to stay a baby forever and never roll, sit, crawl or walk. We also took the plunge this week and purchased 2 new big car seats. We were lucky enough to find them super cheap and we hope that they are good. Consumer reports rates it high so we can only hope. We got the Alpha Omega Elite. We got the smoke colored one and happened to find that for $90 instead of the $300 ones. We checked a million places to make sure it was the right car seat and the model number was the same, so hopefully we got lucky and didn't have to spend a fortune on a new car seat. If anybody has heard anything bad about this one let us know. That is about it here on the Scribner front. We are looking forward to spending Easter with our families. Happy Easter everyone!

7 months old

The quest to get the train. ----------Reaching....

Both hands ready for the grab... and in the mouth

These pictures cracked me up. He was just playing on the
play gym and he does this new thing where he scoots
backwards. This was his progress from the play gym to
getting stuck under the bouncy seat.

Well it has been an interesting week. After I got back from my scrap booking weekend I was pretty sick. So I spent a few days trying to recuperate and then Carter got my cold and he is still fighting it off. He just has a runny nose and a fever the first day. On Wednesday we spent most of it at church helping with the Lenten service and meals and we got to watch Chad act in the Lenten drama. We had a visit from cousin Noah and the Scribner grandparents. I spent the whole week filling the freezer full of pureed baby food. Hopefully we will be set for a little while. Carter is working on his sitting and seems to be getting stronger everyday. I think he will really love it once he is independently sitting and can see more of the world. We can't wait for some warm days so we can venture outside and get out of the house.

Grabby Hands

Playing on the floor with Dad

His LOVE for Wendy's

First you stake out your prey - then you grab hold

You check to make sure no one is looking and then you attack!

mmm. grease.

He loves cups!

Sorry it has been so long since I posted. Things have been a bit crazy around here. Plus every time I come in here to update the blog Carter seems to think it is time for me to pay attention to him. So as he is napping I decided I should take advantage of this time. First I would like to say thanks to all of you for your prayers. We got good news from the doctors and Carter is not having any seizures. He does have Sandifers Syndrome and we have now changed his medication to Reglan 4 times a day which helps increase gastric motility and Prevacid which helps decrease the stomach acid. He has been on that for about 2 weeks and it seems to really be working well. He is eating better and spitting less and seems to be a lot less uncomfortable. We are really happy about that. We also got a solution to the excema problem. We had tried everything and nothing was working very well at all. His poor face was red and itchy and it was starting to interfere with his development. So we put him on Eladil cream and it works great. He now has his baby soft skin back and he doesn't need a hat or mittens on to prevent him from scratching anymore. YAY! The newest thing with Carter is that he has really started to grab for things. When sitting on your lap he will grab for you glass of water or plate and even started grabbing my mouth and nose. Unfortunately for the pugs this also means grabbing handfuls of fur. Nase has quickly learned to stay about a foot away now. Tatze still hasn't learned and she just plops down in front of him and he grabs her face or fur or what ever he can get a hold of. This also means we have tried to work on "gentle" with Carter to teach him how to treat animals. He is very much enjoying his solid foods and has tried almost all the fruits and veggies. The only one he didn't care for too much was green beans. But I mixed it with squash and he loved it, so I just snuck in a few bites of just green beans and he didn't seem to notice. Hopefully that will allow him to acquire a taste for them. Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks. (ps- I posted 3 other updates below this one so be sure and check them out)

Loving on Grandpa and Grandma

The Scribner grandparents came over the other weekend and I wanted to shoot a few pictures of them with Carter to put on our wall. Here are a few of the good ones I got.

Young Couples SAC Museum

Carter and Aunt Erin checking out the hummer

Last weekend we took a trip with our young couples group to the SAC museum and we took Carter with us. We went up Saturday morning and then ate lunch at Round the Bend in South Bend Nebraska. Carter was really good on the trip and it was fun to get out and let him see some new things. Chad and Brian got to ride on a flight simulator. Chad said that after the first barrel roll he thought he might throw up. But they made it out in one piece and said it was worth it. Here are a few pictures from that.

Play Date

Little Evan---------------------------- Ryan

Carrie and Noah

Two Fridays ago Carter and I went to a friends house for a play date. There were several kids there. Carter (6months) Noah (9months) Ryan (8months) Evan (3months) and a little girl came later that day. We had a lot of fun sitting around drinking coffee, talking and watching our kids play. My friend Kristin was the one who hosted it and it turned out great. I hope we can continue doing it, just for a little change in the routine. Here are some pictures from that.
