Mini Golf and batting cages

We were hanging out, just being lazy on memorial day and the kids asked if we could go mini golf.  We decided it was a nice night to do it, so we agreed.  We wanted to stop for dinner somewhere before hand and the typical scenario happened. Carter and Callan agree on where to go and Camden is the odd man out.  We usually go with majority rule (including us and we carry more weight) but I started to feel bad that all of Camden's favorites are not anyone the favorites of the rest of us.  He really wanted chicken fried rice so I decided to rule in his favor and deem the night "middle child night," where he got to pick the places we go.  He thought it was an excellent idea and the other two wanted to know when their special day was.  I told them that everyday is their day :). But we got Chinese food for dinner, the headed out to the mini golf place and then even did the batting cages when we were done.  Chad and I even tried it out.  After that we stopped at Goodrich for ice cream (cam's choice) and took some over to the Niebuhr grandparents.  It was a beautiful night to out and fun for the family.

Mahoney State Park

It is time again for our annual Mahoney State Park trip with the Scribner/Hardt family.  It was a little tough trying to pack up again after we just unpacked everything but we managed to get out of the house.  I took that Friday off from work (and worked the Tuesday before instead) and got us all packed up for the weekend.  The weather looked great and the kids were happy to be out of school and going to spend some time with their cousins.

On Friday afternoon we unpacked our car and got settled into the cabin.  We were pleasantly surprised that our cabin had been remodeled from the last time we were there and it looked great.  It had an extra murphy bed and a larger living and dinning area.  While we were getting settled the kids played with their cousins and riding bikes.
bottle flipping is the new thing

We grilled our burgers over at Shawn and Carries cabin that night because they also had a nice new deck on their cabin.  After dinner we took our annual walk to the tower.  We originally were not going to take Tatze because she is too old to make it that far.  But when we saw that Shawn and Carrie had a wagon to to Logan in we asked if she could sit in it on a blanket.  She was fine when a child was in the wagon, but when they got out she was having none of it.  She wanted out, even if it meant she was going to die.  It was frustrating to say the least.  She is one stubborn dog.  But we did get to see another pug that looked just like Nase and they end of our cabin road.  I loved on that little puppy a lot. We then met up at Grandma Jewel's cabin for some dessert and horsing around.

The next morning we had breakfast over at the Scribner grandparents cabin.  Grandma Karen made pancakes, sausage, fruit and juice for all of us.  We all just go over when we get and spend some time hanging out in their cabin. After breakfast we headed back to our cabin to figure out the game plan for the day.  It wasn't going to be super warm and there was a chance of rain.  The kids really wanted to swim since we missed out on it last year, so we decided it probably wouldn't be too busy so Chad took the kids to the pool. I had a headache and wasn't feeling the best so I stayed behind.  Chad didn't take his phone so I don't have any pictures of the swimming.  Then that night we grilled with the whole family.  Everyone brings a side or dessert and meat to grill and we eat at grandma Jewels cabin.  Then we played an intense game of Mafia with a lot of the family.  Trae and his friend taught us all the rules and we ending up having a blast playing it. We played it well into the night.  Some of the family broke off to make s'mores and sit by the fire.  We headed to bed well after 10.

On Sunday morning we had a lazy breakfast and then sent the kids out to play while we started to pack up.  After we get packed up, it has been a tradition for us to go to the marina to feed the fish and geese and then take a walk around the camp grounds.  After that we headed home to unpack and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Post school festivites

After school was out we met up with the Thober's at the Y park to play for a while before going to Culver's for dinner.  The kids thought they hadn't had enough of each other yet and begged for a sleepover.  I decided it would be ok since it was the last day.  Emma and Jackson stayed over night and played video games until bed. In the morning we enjoyed a nice donut breakfast, before taking Camden to his orthodontist appointment. Since the kids stayed up later than normal they were pretty tired, so we all took a nap in the afternoon.  It was a great way to start off the summer.

schools out for the summer

The kids last day of school was Wednesday May 24th.  They were all happy that summer was starting but a little disappointed that they wouldn't see their friends everyday.  I was a little sad because we loved the teachers so much that I don't what that relationship with the kids to end. They are all able to say that they were the first Wysong wolves!  Hopefully they have a fun and relaxing summer.
the kids all had a "moving up" day where they got to go to the next grade to meet the teachers and see the new area they would be in.  I only have a picture of Carter's class moving up to 5th grade.

The thing he is most proud of, and so are we, is that he got perfect attendance! I believe he said that only 12 students in the school got them.
