For all of those who don't live in Lincoln Nebraska, here is what it is like to be snowed in.

Here are some thank you's from the kids. Thank you to everyone who got our kids gifts. It was so nice of you! They love them!

Thank you to Curt and Rene!

Thank you Uncle Gary and Aunt Natalie from Carter! ( he says thank you twice, the first time he turns away from the camera trying to say thank you uncle and the second he says it soft closer to the end, sorry it wasn't the greatest thank you)

Carter Sledding

Here is a video of Carter and the triplets sledding. Carter is riding with Grace.

Ginger Bread Cookies

Getting ready to decorate

Eating the frosting

Serious about decorating
more decorating
The finished product
Last night I bought a ginger bread cookie box that had all the things in it to decorate. I thought that a ginger bread house might be too tough for Carter this year so I went with cookies instead. It was a ton a fun and pretty easy. I made up the frosting and set things up and Carter had a great time. I put frosting on his cookies and he stuck the candy on it. He also ate the candy and the frosting at any chance he got. He was pretty serious when he decorated, and wanted to get them right on the frosting blotches. It also didn't lead to as big of a mess as I anticipated. Carter really wanted to eat the cookies but I am not sure they would be that good so we opted to just eat some candy. It was a fun little holiday treat for Carter and I.

Camden 11 months

Yesterday Camden turned 11 months old. I CANNOT believe that my baby is going to be 1 year in 1 month. It is crazy. He is getting so big! Here is what my 11 month old son can do.
He is babbling a lot. saying da da da da, ma ma ma ma, ba ba ba ba, and some others. He likes to make noise so that he can be heard over his brother. He is cruising furniture and pulling up to a stand but only on objects that are low. he walks behind his walker and LOVES table food. He is starting to push away the baby food and wanting to feed himself. He has had almost every food we eat. He eats a lot too! He even seems like he is growing away from his bottle which is great. Hopefully weaning him from that will be fairly easy. He is sleeping well. He still takes a 30minute to 1 hour nap in the morning and is usually taking a 2.5 to 3.5 hour afternoon nap. The more he sleeps the better he does and better he sleeps so we don't ever wake him up anymore. He still goes down at 7 and sleeps till 5,6 or 7am. If he wakes up before 7 he takes a bottle and goes back down till 7-7:30. We haven't had any trouble with him waking up in the middle of the night for awhile which we are really grateful for. He even has short times with Carter where they play quietly and good together. We can only hope that this turns into a great friendship between them. Camden is also very smiley and animated like Carter. He loves showing his bottom 2 teeth (his only teeth) when he smiles and enjoys clapping. He likes being around Carter and playing with him when it doesn't get too rough. That is about all I have on my little man.

Battlestar Galactica Finale Night

Hello friends and family. Chad here, to tell you a story that's too nerdy for a Lisa posting, but must be told.

For the past year or so, Lisa's brother Brian has been watching each season of Battlestar Galactica on DVD and then loaning them to me to watch. I finally caught up to him during the last season and we decided to watch the last three episodes together. This Battlestar Galactica Finale Night finally happened last Saturday. The finale night was a win- the only failure that comes to mind is that Lisa and Brian's wife Erin forgot to wear their Number Six red dresses as they were instructed.

Now behind every successful geek, there is a woman who loves him. Mine decided, perhaps against her better judgment, that she would support this finale night through the use of her baking skills. Here she is working on the Cylon brownies.

The finished brownies. Frakkin' flawless work, Lisa.

What finale night would be complete without Cylon Raider crab-stuffed crescent rolls?

And let's not forget the first couple of seasons of Battlestar, during which their bourbon was green.

Thanks to Lisa and Erin letting us have a night away from the kids, and because of Lisa's prep, this finale night will go down in nerd history (or at least Brian's and my little piece of it). So say we all.

Santa

On Sunday after church we went to the mall to eat and to see Santa. It was fairly uneventful. We couldn't get Carter to smile, but that is nothing new. So here is the picture! I am not sure what shirt santa is wearing but I would have preferred him to just wear a normal red jacket.

Carter Praying

Here is Carter saying the "God is great, God is good, and we thank him for our food"

this is what Carter actually said. "God is great, God is great, for our food, and thank you...........amen"

Thanksgiving weekend

We had a fun and eventful Thanksgiving weekend. We started it out with lunch at the Niebuhrs. We had a turkey dinner and play time for the kids and then headed home to take a nap and watch Christmas Vacation. I was suppose to work but got RTO'd so I was able to go to the Hardt family meal that evening. We had another turkey dinner at Grandma Hardts house and celebrated a few birthdays. Then on Saturday we had the Scribner family Thanksgiving over at our house and I got my first chance to make home made stuffing. Some of it turned out good and the rest was a poor attempt, but at least I know what to do next time. I also got to worry all night the night before that the turkey wasn't going to be thawed in time but it all worked out and we had a great meal. We also got to spend time with some family that we don't see that often so it was great to be able to catch up with them. Here are some photos from all the festivities.
