At The Cabin

This weekend was our annual trip to Mahoney State Park with the Hardt family.  This year we got our own cabin and were able to take the pugs with us.  The kids were really excited about going up this year as were the dogs.  We had a tiny glitch happen before we left where we got a nail in one of our tires.  Luckily they were able to get is in fairly quickly and we were only an hour or two later than we wanted to be.  The cabin had bunk beds in one room which the kids were really excited about. (even though they have their own bunk beds at home)  Callan was thrilled to be able to sleep with the other boys.  Friday afternoon we just played around the cabin and I set up a badminton net, with the help of the boys.  We ate dinner over at grandma Jewels cabin and then took a walk to the tower.  By the time we got back it was getting late so instead of making s'mores we just let the boys have all the s'mores pieces without toasting the marshmallows.  It rained part of the night and into the morning so we had a leisurely breakfast of pancakes and just snuggled on the couch.  We were able to make it to the nice indoor playground for about an hour and then went swimming in the afternoon.  The weather wasn't the best for swimming but it was great for the pool not being busy.  The water wasn't too cold and the pool was so much nicer when it wasn't crammed full. Carter and Callan both went down the big water slides and Camden tried to be brave but only made it to the top and sat down and then he was too afraid to do it. (last year the force of the slide made him flip over and backwards and it scared him a lot)  Callan flipped the first time he did it too, but he was able to go again.  Chad and I also got to enjoy the big water slides since there was no line!  The wave pool was a huge hit for Noah and Carter.  They both did pretty well holding their own. We had a raft for a short period and the waves would always flip Carter over but he still got back up and went back for more.  Callan and Camden played in the splash area and went down the kiddie slide a lot.  Needless to say we had some tired kids.  We went back to the cabin and just rested until dinner.  We grilled out over at grandma Jewels cabin again, played out side and ended the evening with s'mores.  The highlight for Carter was when we let him light a marshmallow completely on fire.  We put the boys to bed and they were out in 5 minutes.  Chad and I then enjoyed our s'mores and spent some time around Shawn and Carries fire pit.  Sunday we packed up the cabin and then walked around the Marina and camp sites for a little bit before heading home.  The kids had a great weekend away but when we got home Carter said "do we get to stay home and do nothing tomorrow?" and when my answer was 'yes', he was thrilled.  We did go over to my parents house on Sunday for dinner where we had brats and german potato salad.  Unfortunately the family was not complete because Xander was stuck in the hospital with dehydration and vomiting.  He was able to go home later that evening which I am sure they were happy about.  Here are some pictures of our weekend.

Another Last

On Thursday Carter had his last day of kindergarten! It is bittersweet.  I love how much he has grown and developed into his own this year.  He made friends, loved his teacher but more importantly started to love learning.  He was actually sad that school was over.  He loved the structure and being independent.  The whole class was in tears at the end of the day because they were going to miss their teacher, and although he wasn't crying, he was sad along with the rest of them.  Our summer officially starts today, so say a little prayer that the Scribner house doesn't fall down.  Hopefully they will stay busy enough that I don't lose my sanity.
The day before the last day of school, they invited families to come and listen to poems written by the kids.  The boys and I went to support Carter and he did a great job.  They put the poem they wrote and illustrated up on the screen and then they held the microphone and read it aloud.  It was pretty cute.  Then we helped them write a family poem.  Carter so super excited to show his brothers what a little bit of his day was like and of course they loved it too.  Callan did not want to leave.  Carter also got to celebrate his birthday on Thursday where all the kids make a birthday book for them and they get to wear a birthday crown.  They also get to go to the office and pick out a prize.  That is the biggest treat.  Then on the last day I went and helped with field day where they get to play a bunch of games outside and eat popsicles. Even though I was manning the limbo station I was able to pull away and take a few pictures of the other events.  Here is a few pictures of the fun.

Camden's Spring Program

Camden had his spring program on Thursday May 16.  I absolutely love these programs.  Our preschool does such a great job at keeping them short and sweet.  Camden was really excited about the program and we kept reminding him to smile when he saw us.  He did a pretty good job, but was fairly serious during the program.  Here are a few pictures of the event and a little snippet of his performance.

Last day of preschool

Well 2012-2013 preschool year has come to a close.  Camden enjoyed his first year of preschool and learned a lot.  He made some nice friends, and loved his teacher.  We have always loved Wee Wisdom and this year was no different.  Last Monday was Camden's official last day of preschool this year.  He had a little field day that I got to help out with and take pictures.  So here are a few of his last day.  First, I have to show a contrast of Camden's looks from the beginning of the year to the end.  He has grown up so much!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all my friends who are mothers and to my mom, my mother-in-law and my grandmas!  They are great examples to me, and I appreciate all they have done for me and my family and for all the work they put into raising their own kids.  It is not an easy job, and thankless at times.  But looking at those little faces you made, makes it all worth it.

A Lovely Day

I had a lovely Mother's Day weekend.  On Saturday we went and got shaved ice with the kids in the afternoon and then we hosted the April birthday's and Mother's Day at our house.  We grilled out, Erin brought sides, and I made desserts.  It was a nice little get together.  I finished the evening by relaxing and watching Silver Linings Playbook with Chad.  Then the next morning Chad went and got donuts and orange juice (with lots of pulp) for me and we went to church. Then we went to Vandorn Villa when my grandma lives for their lunch.  We then headed home for much needed naps for everyone, including Chad and I.  Then we played outside and got some Chinese food for dinner.  It was a nice weekend and I was spoiled by my family.  Here are some pictures from our get-togethers.
