The stars at night are big and bright! Deep in the heart of Texas!
The past 4 days I was lucky enough to get away for fun little trip to Texas to see my friend Sarah. It was just to be able to hang out and chat and relax a little. I had a great time there and didn't want to see it end so quickly. We are planning a family trip there next summer when they will have their pool in and we can just send the kids out to swim while we enjoy some relaxation and adult time! I had to get up early on Thursday morning to drive to the Omaha airport. The flight was very uneventful but smooth, and I arrived at the DFW airport to some clouds and drizzle. But no amount of rain or cloudiness was going to stop our fun!
On the plane to Texas
We stopped at the store on the way home to pick up some grocery items so we could bake some yummy treats. We didn't waste anytime getting all our snacks for the weekend prepped and ready. Sarah got to open her birthday presents from me and we absorbed all the silence and uninterrupted conversation we could get.

We then headed out to grab a quick bite to eat at chick-fil-a. Their chicken nuggets are SO good! We picked up Brie from school as we swung home and finished the afternoon helping the older kids with homework and snacking.

We did enjoy a lot of time out on the porch swing enjoying the rainy weather and catching up. I also got to walk through a few homes going up in their neighborhood that are pretty incredible. All the homes in this neighborhood are gorgeous and it is so fun to walk though them and dream about the home I will never have. One in particular had a two story library with a small spiral staircase with two secret passageways. One lead into the man's master closet and the other lead to his secret golf room. It has huge ceilings and kitchens and a laundry room that is bigger than a bed room. They even had a small shower where you can wash your dog! The coolest part was that they had a big twisty slide for their kids from the second to first floor. They have a huge play room with a stage that also has a back stage area with their secret sleepover room that has 3 built in beds and trundles for their friends. They also had a beautiful pool and a giant pond that will have a bridge to the middle area that you can sit out on. It really was cool to walk through these homes and see what is even out there beyond my home here in Lincoln.

On Saturday we walked through a few more that were just as impressive. A big thing down there is to build a mother in law suite that has it's own private entrance and is basically another home. I would just live in that!

fancy ceiling with chandelier, the office, master room looking out to the pool area, exposed beam living room and the rec room off the pool area. That open door to the left is a secret passage to storage.
Then on Thursday night after the kids were in bed we had some Taco Bueno and watching a comedy routine in their awesome media room. If I had one like that I would spend most of my evenings in there. It was so comfy and amazing. Friday we ran a few errands but mostly relaxed and chatted. We even took a little nap on the couch during the rainy afternoon. That night we went to Chuy's Mexican restaurant to celebrate Ray's birthday that was on Saturday. They have a free queso bar from 5-7 so we took advantage of that. It was so good I ate so much that I could not eat much of my dinner. But I did take it home and have it as leftovers.

Saturday we celebrated Ray's birthday by just laying low and enjoying the day. He went to get a massage and then Sarah and I followed suit. We got a 30 minute foot massage and a 30 minute neck, back and shoulder massage. We got the hour for $30 which was a great price and we enjoyed every minute of it. That night they had a block party that we went to and ate burgers and watched the kids play in the bounce house as we chatted with the neighbors. We then headed home, got the kids in bed and watched another movie. Sunday was my last day there. We hit up Whataburger for breakfast to have their chicken with honey butter biscuit. It did not disappoint. We spent the rest of the day hanging out on the porch swing and I got a chance to chat with Sarah's parents for a little while. The flight home was uneventful but it did get delayed a little bit and we had to sit on the runway waiting for other planes to take off but it went by pretty fast. I was happy to be home to see Chad and not have to sleep alone. The kids were fast asleep so I didn't see them till morning. I thought they would be super excited to see me but it was a pretty lack luster reunion. :) I guess that means I need to go away more often. I was happy to be back to my normal routine but sad that they time went by so fast. We will do it again soon!

bye sarah! it was good seeing you!
brie sang to me while i got ready in the morning
good bye parker texas, until summer 2016
