The boys all got to do the Mayor's run this year. I planned on going down with them to help take pictures and some video. The weather was terrible and I quickly regretted saying I would go :) It was raining and cold but the boys didn't care. They really wanted to run so we headed out bright and early. It was not nearly as crowded as it usually is due to the weather, so it was much easier to get around and get video. The boys really did a great job. They all ran in the same heat just so we could be done and get out of the rain. Carter and Emma led the pack, then Camden and Jackson were shortly behind them. Callan and Chad did a great job keeping up and Callan did pretty amazing for his first ever race. Carter got a time of 8:42, Camden was 9:29 and Callan was 10:40. Pretty good for a mile in cold and rainy weather

We had April and May birthday's over at my house on Saturday. We celebrate Brian, Chad and my mom's birthday all together. Even though it was my mom's birthday she was kind enough to make 3 pasties for dinner! Erin brought over fruit and an appetizer and I made dessert. We sat around and had a few drinks and chatted before dinner. Then we opened presents and had dessert. We had butterscotch bread pudding and raspberry cream cheese bars for dessert which is not our typical birthday desserts. We had a good time chatting and eating good food.
Carter came home from school one day to announce he won a bike from Cycle Works for the Mayors run. I had trouble believing him at first but he assured me he had won. He got a certificate in his Friday folder for the bike. So we didn't know what to expect but went to check it out. The bike they give you is the size of bike Carter had right now and he will grow out of soon. So we got a $160 credit and upgrade to the next size. Carter had to use his own money to pay the difference. We also had to explain that this bike is expensive and will be stolen if left out so he needed to take care of it. He was pretty stoked about his win. He also got a new helmet and lock for free as part of the winnings. These past few weeks have been jam packed with lots of happenings. We also had a lunch date with friends on Friday when school was out. We love our friends and love that the kids get along so well.
The kids got ready for their first night of track but the weather had different plans and it got cancelled. They decided to play ball outside with the neighbors instead and there was a slight accident. Camden caught a baseball with his eye! It is still healing, but is looking much better.
Curt invited Callan and I to go out for my mom's birthday lunch. Of course we wouldn't turn down a chance to go out so we went along. We went to the venue and enjoyed some great company and good food. Callan went around and gave everyone a massage as they waited for their food. He also drew grandma a birthday picture. I am really going to miss the days hanging out with just Callan.
The boys had their spring piano recital on Sunday at 4pm at First Lutheran Church. The boys did a really nice job this year of working on their recital songs with out us harping on them. They both did two songs and memorized them both! It wasn't even a rush to get them to memorize them. They worked really hard and did a great job!

Camden did a research project on sloths in class. He was inspired to do research because he loved the sloths in the movie Zootopia. He did a great job collecting data and putting together a presentation. Parents were invited to an open house to hear and see all their presentations. Camden made a diorama all on his own at home as an added bonus. He also did a short voice clip that people could listen to that gave facts about their animals. He had a booklet he made with all the research he did and his diorama for visuals. Callan and I went up to the school to pay a visit. We also listened to other classmates of Camden give their presentations. Camden was proud of his work and did such a great job!
Callan had his last field trip to the nature center two Friday's ago. I had Chad take Carter to his appointment so I could go with Callan on his last field trip. It was a beautiful day to walk around the nature center. The kids had a good time looking at all the bugs, frogs, deer, turtles and owls. It was a little bitter sweet that it was the last preschool field trip but the kids had a blast and the sunshine was needed by all.
The boys got the chance to go to the Lied center for the Broadway production of Annie. They have seen the movie several times and we listen to the soundtrack quite often. They were really excited about going but were not sure what to expect. They ended up loving it, and it was really good. The orphans were amazing singers! It was late so Callan did fall asleep at the end and I think Camden took a brief cat nap as well. I guess we should have waited a few more years before taking them :) We went out to dinner before with my parents and made a night of it.
