Flooded Basement

I just wanted to share a few pictures of our basement after the water incident. The early morning of August 4th we woke up to the crazy storm outside and our power going out. Chad got up to check on the sump pump and came upstairs with the bad news. Our back up pump wasn't able to keep up so the pit was over flowing and water was coming in around the parameter or our basement. We ran around getting this up off the floor and we able to save most things, especially my computer. We had to call a service to come extract the water and do all the damage control after the storm. Our families also came over to help out. After weeks of our basement being out of commission I am happy to say that it is back, at least 90%. We still have a few things they need to fix (mainly due to laziness on the construction workers part) The good news is we lost very few things and our insurance covered. (we just have to pay our deductible) We also have a 3rd sump pump and a generator for possible future incidences. We are also getting a new back up pump that runs off of water pressure, not battery. Anyway enjoy the pictures. (the picture with the black hose is the water being pumped out of the sump pump)
(the picture with water going out into the street is all the water on the side of our house draining out the french drain into the street. It poured out all day long and probably several days)

Camden's first solids

unhappy face
eating pears

(July 21st)
Camden ate his first solid food. He tried rice cereal a few times at around 5 months but we began actual food a week or so after he turned 6 months. This means I have been busy making all kinds of baby food. I actually have fun making it, it is the mess that makes me not want to do it. But when I see that 4 Yams cost me $2 and makes 4 trays of baby food I realize how much of a money saver it is. Camden has been less than pleased about the food. Waiting to feed him solids was kinda of nice because he knows how to eat so it makes for less of a mess but he is not fond of a lot of foods. I skipped over rice cereal and only add it to food if it is too runny. He is not a fan of that. He is also not a fan of fruit. He doesn't really care for peaches, pears, applesauce or prunes. He makes a sour face and depending on the day will refuse to open his mouth. He does like bananas. Veggies are another story. He seems to really like the ones I have given him. He likes sweet potato, squash, and carrots. We haven't tried the greens yet but that is on the list for this week so we will see how it goes. It just cracks me up that he is so picky. (disclaimer.... he does eat most of the foods, except for a few refusals, he just won't eat as much) I am afraid that this child will be even more stubborn than Carter. :)

The past few weeks have been pretty eventful. I feel like time is flying by, and Carter's 2 year birthday is going to be here soon. We had a great time last weekend going to Mahoney State Park with the other Scribner family and Grandma and Grandpa Scrib. We played at the park ate a picnic lunch and then went to the pool. Carter had a pretty good time except he got a huge thing of water dumped on his head right away and that made him a little shy of the water but he had fun none the less. The best part was that Chad and I got to have fun and play in the wave pool which made us feel old and out of shape but was tons of fun. Thanks Al and Karen for watching the kids so we could be kids again. We also got our family pictures taken this last weekend as well and they turned out so good. If I can get permission I will post some pictures on here. I got to finish up all my birthday celebrations this past weekend as well and I ended up with some pretty good stuff. Thanks everyone!
Now on to the funny things that have been going on around here. The first thing is that Carter has become quite the parrot lately. We really have to watch what we say or we hear it back toddler style. He can almost repeat anything we say, but sometimes with a Carter twist. The funny thing he did this week was he starting saying "i want down" but he was already down. So we would say that. He then started saying "daddy down" or "mommy down" and pointing to the place on the carpet that he would like us to sit so we can play with him. So cute! He has also mastered saying *sorry*. He says it in a little high pitched voice that cracks me up. He has mastered this because he spends a decent amount of each day in time out and then has to say sorry when he comes out. Also when I go to the bathroom these days I announce it to Carter so he knows that everyone goes pee in the potty. So he always follows me in there and at times sits on his own potty and pees. Other times when I am done he announces "yay pee" or "daddy poop" Pretty funny. He has gotten super good at putting away his toys. He doesn't always like it but he is actually putting a dent in it when we ask him to help. His receptive language amazes me.
Camden on the other hand has been such a sweet boy and is finally sleeping thru the night. (well he has been for a few weeks) Yay for more sleep. 7pm to 6am. Not too shabby. Camden is all over the place and is able to put his knees up under him and almost get into the crawl position. I cannot believe we are going to have another mobile child around here. And after much procrastination I finally started solid food. He has only tried pears so far and the first day he was not a fan but was more of a fan the next day. Camden had his 6 month check this week and was 15lbs 7oz (10%) 27 inches (75%). That is about all for now. Hope you are all having a great week!

6 months old

can you believe it? My baby is 6 months old! I already miss my baby. He is growing up a lot faster than Carter ever did.
Well here is what I have learned from my 6 month old... He is SLEEPING through the night, for the most part. We knocked out his 2am feeding and he has done pretty good ever since. (1 week). He is breastfeeding like a champ. He can eat in 5-10minutes now which is fantastic. He is a very happy baby now with very little spitting. I think the medicine is really working either that or he is just growing out of it. He loves to laugh and play with Carter and doesn't care that Carter is too rough with him. When he is tired he is very crabby. He sleeps good and takes a good morning and afternoon nap. He is a much better napper than Carter ever was. He is enjoying going on walks in the evening and spending some time out side. He loves taking a bath with his brother. He still smiles with his whole face. he loves playing air plane. He is the happiest at 6-7am. He is close to sitting and he can scoot a little while on his belly. He sleeps like a maniac and is all over his crib. His hair is really dark (the little he has) and his beautiful blue eyes are turning brown. (not completely yet) He loves playing with the toys on his exersaucer. He has tried rice cereal but I am too lazy to do any other foods yet. He rolls everywhere but cries if he gets stuck on his belly. And for the finale, he still has not peed on me. Good boy!

I'm officially 30!

1st birthday

30 years later...

at 2:11pm. I can't believe it! There was a time in my life (when I was 10) that I thought I would never make it to 30 because it seemed SO far away. But here I am. I started the weekend off with a bang. I went to cheesecake factory on Friday night plus a movie and last night we celebrated with all of our friends. Today we are going over to my parents house for dinner and next weekend we go to Chad's parents to celebrate! It has been one great birthday so far.

Fourth of July Happiness

our flag shirts
familybrothers
Hanging with grandma
my boy driving already
playing with toys at Al and Karens
all tuckered out
fun with dad
loving the water
learning to walk in the sand

destroying sand castles
throwing sand
In the lake

What a difference a year makes. Carter LOVED the fourth of July this year. We spent the third of July at Randy and Judy's cabin on Middle Island. Even though it was overcast and a little cool (weird weather for July) we went swimming in the lake which was a huge hit for our little man. He loved the sand and he spent a lot of time reaching down and picking up wet sand and then throwing it back into the water. We also took a boat ride of which Carter stood at the front of the boat and just took it all in. It was so cute. We played some games and ate good food and then watched a good firework show. We were afraid it might get canceled from the rain, but we got to see it. Then on the fourth of July we went over to Al and Karen's block party and got to eat good food and play outside. Carter loved playing with all the kids and toys. He even stayed in close proximity to us that we were able to sit back and relax. (plus some help from grandma and grandpa) We watched some fireworks and then it was time to go home because two late nights equals one cranky toddler. It was such a nice time this year. We all had a ton of fun!
