Happy Halloween

It finally came!  Halloween!  We have done so much Halloween related things that I am happy for it to be over.  But we went out with a bang and had a great time trick or treating with the neighbors.  Our three neighbors and our kids went around the block together and the kids had a blast.  Our little Simon was a bit tired of all of the trick or treating but after we took off the glasses and held his bucket for him he was able to keep up.  The kids went to all the doors together and loved showing us what kind of candy they got.  This year they got to choose a lot of candy which left us with a lot of dum dum suckers and random small candy no one will eat.  I guess we need to do some teaching before next year that you always grab something chocoate or at least the biggest thing you can find! :)  We actually have so much candy we are going to have to give some away.  It is too much for one family to eat.  We ended the night by going over to the Scribner grandparents house for some pumpkin pie and other treats.  The kids got to bed about 9pm which has made the day a bit more difficult for Callan and Camden.  Not to mention that Callan has a bad ear infection that came with a high fever and it is still not down today.  Poor guy.  Thankfully we have nothing to do tonight so we will have an early bed time for all!

our last trunk or treat

Last night we went to the local church in our neighborhood for another trunk or treat.  We go to this one every year and the kids love it. It was really cute and the people spent a lot of time decorating their trunks. They also got to play some games inside.  We even played a CD of Alvin and the chipmunks while they trick or treated. Just one more day of Halloween fun!

more halloween fun...

That's right folks, there is yet another post about Halloween!  I hope one day our kids look back and see how good of a life they have.  Last night we went over to grandma and grandpa Niebuhr's house for some more Halloween fun!  The kids like to trick or treat around their house because they know a lot of the neighbors.  We started the evening off by having pizza, and cupcakes (that Grace made) and then the kids put on their costumes and went over to 4 different neighbors.  They got to end the night by going to one of the neighbors homes that was all decked out with fog and moving things the yard.  Those neighbors (who my parents don't know that well) were having an adult Halloween party and they came out and gave the kids some cool treat bags.  I didn't get a picture but they were popeye and olive oil.  It was pretty cute!  Tonight we have one more trunk or treat and then the official trick or treat on Monday!  We certainly have some lucky kids!!

Children's Museum Trick or Treat

On Thursday night we went to the Children's Museum for a trick or treat. We went with the other Scribner family and the Scribner grandparents.  When we got there we did a quick trick or treat and then we got to play on the top and bottom floors of the museum.  The kids enjoyed the time with their cousins and ran off a lot of energy.  It was a late night but the kids had fun!

Trunk or Treat - Sheridan Lutheran

On Wednesday night we went to Sheridan Lutheran's trunk or treat.  It was a little cold so they moved it inside.  Although it was a little crowded, it was nice that is was inside.  The boys had fun and we got to see some friends.  As you can see our boys went as Alvin, Simon and Theodore from Alvin and the Chipmunks.  They were very excited about their costumes and Camden left his glasses on the whole time he trick or treated.  Thanks to grandma Ellen who made the costumes!

pumpkin carving

carter wanted his pumpkin to have teeth and a smile.  he also wanted eyebrows

callan photo bomed this picture :)
This weekend while Camden was sick we decided to carve pumpkins since were stuck inside.  Our plan was to go to a pumpkin patch but we had fun with our carving and painting.  Carter really enjoyed cleaning out the insides of the pumpkin but Camden wanted nothing to do with it (it also could have been that he didn't feel well)  Carter helped us pop out the pieces once we carved and then they got to finger paint their own pumpkins.

My parents took our kids and the triplets out to Vala's pumpkin patch last week.  They really enjoyed the movie in the van on the ride up and the fact that they were all able to go in one car.  The weather wasn't the best but it worked out well.  I guess it was just a little muddy.  The kids had a blast and even voluntarily went into the haunted houses.  Even Camden went in.  They had a great afternoon and were ready for bed by 6:30 (since they went without a nap).  Thanks grandma and grandpa for taking the kids.  They had a blast!
