Kloefkornacopia

There is a tradition at the kids school where they honor the namesake of the school Bill Kloefkorn and they have a parade in his honor around the school. The kids dress up like him with plaid and jeans and then paint on white mustaches.  They carry around some of the things he liked/did such has homemade kites, harmonicas, pigs and some hold mustaches on a stick.  The kids really enjoy this day.  They usually have grilled hotdogs and hamburgers for lunch and a outdoor music concert before the parade.  I try and go every year to the parade to get some pictures.

Tatze

Life without Nase has changed Tatze more than we thought.  She has become a lot more mellow, more lovey and depends on us more.  She loves me more now than she used to.  She has had to let her guard down and let us know that she needs us.  But in her old age she sleeps a lot more and has trouble getting up on furniture.  It doesn't always stop her, but she is trying less and less.  The fact that she is less of a spaz is really nice.  She still has her days of acting a like a puppy where she wants to play past her abilities.  We hope she is enjoying her senior days with our family.  I took some pictures of her the other day so I thought I would post them.

Chinese Food

As you know Carter is in the middle of doing OIT. We are only a few weeks away from being done and things have gone so well. We are so happy we came on this journey. We updosed to 6 peanuts over a week ago. We were cleared to eat cross contaminated food so we did the one thing Carter has been begging to do forever, eat Chinese food.So this weekend we got Chinese food for the first time as a family. Even though we have always eaten food that is made in a facility or says may contain we have never let Carter eat Chinese food because the risk for CC was really high (we felt).  So we got several dishes for him to try.  He loved most of is except the crab rangoon. Ironically they gave us Kung Pao chicken (made with peanuts) instead of cashew shrimp.  But we just picked out the chicken pieces and gave it to him without worry.  It was so freeing and felt so great to not worry.  It was such a fun week to let him try new things!

Preschool Graduation

Preschool Graduation May 11, 2016 Wee Wisdom

We have our last preschool graduate in the Scribner household.  It is SO surreal!  I swear we were just changing his diapers and cleaning out bottles.  I put on the blue graduation gown on him and it was hard to be emotional.  All the boys had worn that cap and gown and now it was going to be worn for the last time. I was the most sad about not seeing all the teachers and losing that camaraderie you build when you have preschoolers.  That preschool really has been like a second family to us.  Even though I am sad to see this chapter end, I am excited to see what the future holds for Callan.  It is just a painful reminder that time really does fly by and you will miss these days!

Run for Ribbons

The boys had their first run for ribbons night at track.  Despite the yucky weather the night before they had a fun night.  It was Callan's first time running a race at track and only had one other experience running at the mayors run.  We had to try and tell him that this was a much shorter run so he should run as fast as he can, and not pace himself.  They boys were excited to run and they all did well.  Camden and Carter both got second in their runs and Callan got first!  My parents take the boys to track so my dad was kind enough to get a few pictures of them running their races.

It's a Twister

I do not have Lilapsophobia.  Weather in general doesn't scare me. As a kid we always watched the weather instead of taking cover.  If I ever get a call from my mom to see where we are and if we are taking cover I know that things are serious.  This past Monday (5-9-16) Lincoln had some crazy crazy weather.  We headed out of town toward Hickman/Roca Nebraska. The kids had their swim lessons as normal and on our way out we saw a few raindrops but nothing else.  After Callans lessons the weather started to change some and all the parents in the viewing area started to blow up with people calling about the weather.  We were told that Lincoln was seeing tornadoes all over the place and one of the sighted ones was at 60th and Yankee hill, which is so close to us!  Chad had called to see if we were getting hail where we were at  but we were not.  We barely saw much change.  A friend of mine left lessons about 5 minutes before we got calls saying Lincoln was having tornado sightings. I text my friend to let her know but she was already in to deep and was being pelted by baseball size hail that totaled her car and broke all the glass out. It left giant dents all over the body but thankfully her and her daughter were ok.  We ended up having to get the kids out of the pool and into the shower rooms to take cover.  We watched the news and saw all the hail, new tornadoes, and flash flooding happening.  We didn't leave lessons until about 6:15 and made it home safe before another round of hail hit.  We are having  our roof assessed but we think it is ok.  Both of our cars are ok even though we were both out during the worst of it.  It was so crazy to see all the videos and pictures of funnel and wall clouds being posted so close to our house.  The heart of Lincoln doesn't seem to get hit by tornadoes very often and the 1950's were the last time we had any major ones.  Thankfully these were small and some just formed but didn't touch down.  There was a lot of damage due to hail and some strong winds but overall as a town I think we made out pretty good considering.   Here are some pictures and video of what we experienced.
