Poetry and Field Day

The second grade team invited all the parents to come to school over the noon hour to listen to the students read poems that they had written. I never heard from Camden that we were suppose to come. When I got the email about it I asked him about it.  He said he didn't ask either one of us to come because he thought we wouldn't be able to make it because we both work.  I felt so bad for him that he thought that.  I told him that daddy could come for sure, and that I should be able to because it is over my lunch break.  We were both able to make it and we were glad we did.  It was a cute and short presentation. Camden chose a tongue twister poem about camels eating caramels.

we got to look through the rest of his poetry book with him after the program. he really did a great job!

We also got to see a bit of his writing from the year as well

The kids had field day the Monday before school was out.  Since it was a new school they didn't know what to expect but were really looking forward to it.  We just hoped that the weather would cooperate, which it did thankfully.  I was sad that I didn't get to go this year because I was working.  But thankfully I found some pictures on the schools facebook page.  The kids all said they had a blast!

Mother's day fun

The kids and Chad spoiled me on Mother's day.  We spent the weekend doing fun things as a family.  On Saturday night we went to Bison Witches, downtown, for dinner. We walked around for awhile with the kids and got Carter's shoes he won at the running company.  We picked up some nothing bundt cakes and went home to enjoy the hammocks Chad and the kids got me as a present.  They also got me a few T-shirts, ice cream and candy that I like. Callan gave me a back massage and they all made me cards and filled out little questionnaires.  I was spoiled for sure.  I love that I get to celebrate the holiday as a mom.

Callan Spring Soccer

Callan played another season of soccer with his same soccer team this spring.  Spring soccer is always so unpredictable with the weather and this season did not disappoint.  They only reschedule one rain out game and we were lucky that they rescheduled 2 of our 3.  Then one of those rescheduled games got rained out. :( Callan missed the last game because we were going to be at mahoney that weekend, which means I didn't get a team picture because I didn't know it was going to be our last game at the time.  I complied pictures from the season into one post.  Callan really loves playing on his team and has made some good friends.  The team has also made some good improvement since they have played together for a while now.  They started having the boys try and use a few of the skills they learned during the game and they actually did it.  They all were told to try and do a pull back during a ball possession and they all did.  It was pretty cool to see.  He will be playing with this team again in the fall at his request.

Country Music Concert

For some reason Chad and I give off the vibe that we don't like country music.  Which we are dumbfounded about because we both like it.  Our favorite is 90's country, but we enjoy any country music.  Anyway, we had friends who wanted to invite us to the Faith Hill/Tim McGraw concert but didn't think we would want to go.  But thankfully they asked anyway we got to go!  When we were there we found out other friends of ours were there. They text us and said they were going to invite us to go with them as well but thought we didn't like country music. Which is why we feel like we must give off a vibe of hating country music. It was a pretty good concert and they played a lot of their old songs that we knew so that was great.  But we also enjoyed the company of the Wilkinsons and spending time with them.  We went to the Oven downtown before the concert and enjoyed some wine and good conversation.  Then walked over to the Pinacle bank arena for the concert.  We got a few pictures of our evening.

Piano Recital

The kids had their spring recital at First Lutheran Church on May 7th.  There weren't a ton of kids in the recital but it is still a cute and fun recital.  It is a big deal for all the boys and they did a really good job preparing for it this year with little coaxing.  I really enjoy seeing the improvement they make each year.  After the recital we had everyone back to our house for pizza and drinks.  We couldn't wait to host something at our new house.

Mayor's Run 2017

It has become family tradition to do the mayors run.  I did not go with them this year because I was busy working on the house but they kids were thrilled to go.  They didn't meet up with any Wysong kids there because they couldn't find the school flag (their might not have been one since the school was new) but found some friends and ran with them.  Chad ran with Callan again this year while Carter and Camden ran on their own.  Here are their times...
Carter 1 mile  7 minutes 45seconds
Camden 1 mile 9 minutes 12 seconds
Callan 1 mile 9 minutes 18 seconds
They keep getting faster every year.  Pretty sure I could not keep up with any of them.  Carter won a prize again this year and got a gift certificate for a free pair of running shoes from the running company.  It was a super nice gift.  We tried to make time to go downtown to look for them and he found some that he liked.  That kid has been on a lucky streak.

Chad's 39th birthday

Chad turned 39 during all the moving hub bub.  I had got his presents wrapped and ready before we moved so they wouldn't get lost in a box somewhere.  We were pretty tired and exhausted from unpacking and getting the house set up but made some time to celebrate.  I got him Eileens cookies for his birthday treat after a dinner out with the family at Red Robin.  The next night we headed out with Al and Karen to Texas Road house.  That is one of Chad's favorite places to eat for his birthday. He was even a good sport and road on the saddle while they sang to him.  We celebrated with my family on April 23rd and apparently no one took any pictures :(  We loved celebrating Chad and loving on him for the day.  He does so much for our family that one day just doesn't seem like enough :)
