This is what a long day at the zoo will do to you
This was what I found after turning my back for a second to get the camera. he started out on his back and flipped over to his belly and looked at my like "hey mom, i am stuck under this bouncy chair, can you put the camera done and help a guy out"
Carter with his play dough

Sorry for such a late post. We have been super duper busy. Last weekend I got to have a day of scrap booking with friends and we went to the zoo for the first time. Carter had a good time walking around and it was nice and shaded to make everything more enjoyable. He loved feeding the goats and llamas but of course his most favorite was playing on the benches. That is something we can do for free at the park. Kids. We actually went back to the zoo this week as well because I had a MOPS function there. We have logged quite a few hours on the new swing set as well. Carter's favorite word now is outside. He can maneuver the whole set pretty well except for getting on and off the swings. The weather hasn't been the best so we have also spent some time inside playing with homemade play dough and wrestling around. Carter has been making Camden laugh on a daily basis which makes my heart melt every time. As you can see in one of the pictures Carter is getting Camden's belly and he is laughing. Carter has finally figured out how to get onto our bed and let me tell you he thinks that is the best thing ever! It is probably really unsafe how he gets there but he is very determined. Carter is also hitting the terrible twos it seems. We have heard more than our share of no's plus some pretty good tantrums. You can see the frustration growing as his language just isn't quite up to par with what he needs and wants. The whining is at an all time high as well. By 8:00am I have already had enough (we get up at 7am). I am hoping that as his language gets better so will some of the whining. I know we need to sit down and enjoy the ride of the terrible twos cause it has only just begun. Camden has been doing pretty well. We still continue to think that the new medicine is working fairly well. He seems to be overall happier which is great for us. He is STILL not sleeping through the night and there seems like no end in sight. We are however trying something new for 6 days. Since he is still waking several times between 11-2am we are giving him 2oz of breast milk from a bottle for 2 days and then 1oz for 4 days and if we have to we will do 1/2oz for a few nights. What we are trying to accomplish is to get him to sleep sound from 7pm to 2am. What puts him back to sleep is eating (even if he isn't hungry). So we are trying to trick him a little bit by feeding him, just a little, to get him used to sleeping thru this time period. (for over a month now he wakes up several times between 11-2am, and no amount of crying it out or *binky giving* is working) BUT the whole key to feeding him is just to get him used to sleeping more during that time. We are giving it 6 days (we are on day 3) and we are slowly reducing the amount of food. We are hoping that at the end he will just sleep thru. We are desperate right now. Other than co-sleeping we can't think of anything else to do. If he just woke up at 2am we would be happy. That would mean he would sleep from 7pm to 2am (7 hours) straight, which isn't too shabby. (Also I am not breastfeeding at this night time feeding(11pm) because we don't want him to have the comfort of nursing) Wish us luck. We will do anything at this point. I think that is about all that has gone on with the kids. I was able to clean my whole house plus have a cleaning crew come in and do the bathrooms and bedrooms for me (a gift from Chad). It was amazing. I LOVE having the whole house cleaned at once. Plus the bathrooms are spotless. Thanks mom for watching the kids! I had the best day ever that day. I also went to get my hair cut which had not been cut since before Camden was born. It is amazing what makes me happy these days. I don't think being able to clean the whole house (without kids at your feet) would have ever been a *great* day before I had kids. Man how times have changed. But I wouldn't change any of it, I love my little stinkers!

We have a baby rolling over here in the Scribner home! That's right folks, Camden is rolling. Back to front though. That is how we hang here. Neither of our boys have liked their bellies and rolled front to back first. Camden is pretty determined to roll too, it is pretty cute. He has done it several times in the last week, especially when on a hard surface. I have some better pictures of it but I think they are still on the camera. I also have Camden's four month stats. 13lbs 14oz (25-50%) 25.5 inches long (75%) head 41.5 (25-50%) He checked out well at the doctor. He did say he was a *touch* concerned about his weight but thinks it is fine. It does mean we can't drop the night time feed off, but I guess we will keep trucking along. He said we are doing everything right and we have had some luck letting him cry it out. He still has good and bad nights, but we just keep praying our *tough love* will pay off in the end. We also started him on a new medicine for his reflux called Zegerid. It is a new med I research and our wonderful pedi said yes to trying it. I can say we don't think it is a miracle drug, which is what we were hoping for but we are going to give it a little more time. We do think he has been a lot happier. Still spitty and stuff but overall seems happier. It could also be that crazy placebo phenomenon where you think you are getting something great therefor you think it is great and it is all in your head. Will see. It is worth a shot anyway. On to more news. We had a super busy memorial day weekend with me working and Chad putting together our new swing set. It is awesome and Carter *loves* it! It was a ton of work, but totally worth it. Thanks to all our family who helped. All Carter has wanted to do is go outside and play now. Which is great for him, not some much for Camden and I but luckily it made a little shade in the backyard now so Camden can go out their too! Nase also likes it due to the shade factor. Carter is still gabbering away like always. I think his vocabulary grows by at least one word a day. This is also accompanied by more fits and yelling when I don't understand what he wants. Although I have to say I felt super good the other day when I realized what he was trying to say. I feel bad as a mom that I can't always decipher what he is saying and usually I can't but he always says "ho-dee" and then hands me something or he is holding something, and I realized he is saying "hold it." Which also leads me to say that I never felt like that *in touch* mom when I had Carter. i never felt like I could decipher his cries or know what he needed. I don't know if it is because Camden is second or I am breastfeeding him or what but I feel like i know his different cries, and what he needs. Not all of the time but I feel like I am more *in tune* this time around. Well that is about all I can think of. Thanks for stopping by.

All Suckered Out

Funny things have been happening around the Scribner house. Carter has been cracking us up more and more. First we have to mention again his unhealthy obsession with *trash*. It is the first word he says when he wakes up and the last word he says before bed. Well maybe not the last, but close to it. He loves when we open the garage door so he can see the trash. He loves throwing away anything that resembles trash. And his most favorite thing is to watch the garbage men take the trash away on Tuesday mornings. It is the highlight of his week. It just makes me laugh that it hasn't lost its luster yet. The other funny thing that happened this week was when I gave Carter a sucker. It is the second time in his life that he has had one and this kid was ecstatic about it. His eyes were huge and the smile on his face was priceless. The problem was that he was enjoying it so much that he was making the stick really soggy and it was just a dumbdumb sucker so I was super afraid that the ball of the sucker would break off in his mouth and he would choke. So as calmly as I could I asked him to open his mouth. But he was smarter than that and keep a tight grip on the stick. I then tried coaxing him to *lick* the sucker and proceed to show him. But he was content just keeping it in his mouth. I finally pried his little jaw open (since I was panicking inside) and got the sucker out. Of course this brought on Crocodile tears and the sadness that washed over his face broke my heart. Poor kid, he didn't ever realize the potential danger that was lying ahead. Even thought every ounce of me just wanted to hand him the sucker back, we had to throw it away because we didn't listen to mommy and we threw a fit, all no no's in our house. Luckily he got over it pretty quick and I learned my lesson, but man when those eyes filled up with tears my heart really did break a little.
Like I put in Camden's 4 month post we have been battling the night time fussies over here and it has not been fun. We have tired a few different things but have resorted to *cry it out*. That is a tough thing to do when your child is super freakin stubborn. He has cried from 11:30 to 2am straight. That is enough to drive anyone batty. But we are stinking to it and I will talk with our pedi on Friday to see if he has any brilliant ideas. Otherwise Camden is trucking along.
I had a D and C on Friday due to some bleeding issues since having Camden but I think I am on the mend and every thing went well and I am feeling great. We got done with Karen's retirement video and are excited to show it this week at her party.
One other thing. I think we are going to dive into the *potty training* pool. After a lot of research and reading (and articles from my mom) we think we are going to try it. Not this month but maybe next month. We figure if it doesn't work we can at least say we tried and if it does work we will save a ton of money in diapers. We are going to try and get Camdens sleep stuff under control first before tackling this but we don't want to miss the good window of opportunity. (20-24 months) That is about all.

4 months and counting

Well our baby turned 4 months on Friday. I feel like things are starting to slow down a little bit now. Maybe it is because we are getting into a routine, but it is nice that time doesn't seem to be blazing by. I am taking Camden in for his 4 month appointment on Friday so I will have all the stats then.
What I have learned about my 4 month old... He smiles when I go in and get him in the morning. He now giggles when I tickle him or when Carter does something silly. He is stubborn, more than Carter ever was at that age. He is almost rolling over. He has graduated to a sleep sac at night. He only likes his binky a little bit. He is not sleeping thru the night. sad. We have started to do the cry it out method which has tried both Chad and I's patience. He is not really fond of the outdoors, or so it seems. He takes pretty good naps. He has found his fists and LOVES them. Most of his day is spent sucking on his fists. He likes taking a bath with Carter. He takes his bottle really well now, and has for a while. He coo's and babbles quite a bit. He still has good and bad days with his reflux. He likes to lay on the floor and kick his feet. He almost always falls asleep when he is in the car. I feel like he is getting close to out growing his 3-6 month PJ's. He is the most peaceful at 2am when I am feeding him. Even though I hate waking up I do enjoy that time with him. Another month has passed and it another month that my little boy has not peed on me when changing his diaper. This still amazes me.

Sorry for the bad posting job. I have been spending all my free time working on my Mother-in-laws retirement video. I absolutely LOVE doing them and I am really excited about this one. It is done, it just needs a little tweaking. So now I have some time for the blog.
Our mothers day was very eventful. It started on Saturday night where we went to Al and Karen's for dinner and let the kids play. It was all in all a good time except for the 30 minutes Camden was screaming bloody murder. He is one sensitive kid. When he is pissed he is pissed! Noah and Carter had a great time playing with grandma and grandpa. We then came home and Chad and I were in bed by 9:30. Camden gave me my first mothers day gift by sleeping well that night. He only woke up once at 2am and that was it. It was the first time I didn't feel like a Mac truck hit me in the face when I woke up. We all got up at 6am to make it to early church and then it was off to Iowa where we ate a delicious brunch my Aunt Lucy put on. It was a little stressful trying to mind the kids. Camden was first by screaming loudly until I fed him and then it was Carter getting antsy and not wanting to sit at the table anymore. (he did eventually fall off the booster seat) We took a nice walk with my parents and then headed home. Carter did not nap well at all but Camden slept great. I even got a 2 hour nap which was my favorite part of the day. Chad made me a nice card from the kids and I got a charm of Camden's birth stone to go on the necklace Chad got me last year for mothers day. I got another awesome gift from Chad. He gave me a gift certificate for 1 hour of maid service! They send out 2 people and you can have them do whatever you want them to do. I don't think I could get any luckier. (unless I won the lottery I guess) The day ended with some chinese food from Vincent's house of hunan (my favorite) and a massage. Thanks everyone for making my mothers day a great one!
On to kid news. Carter my crazy little man has a new love....Emma. She is our next door neighbor that is 6 months older than Carter. He says her name about 65 times a day and will go to the door and look for her outside. When he looks outside he says her name, and if he sees her outside before bed he will wave at her and say goodnight before going to bed. It is so sweet. Needless to say we have had several play dates with Emma and Carter loves it. I have to say that his love really took off when she brought him a may day basket. Anytime he sees the bucket or the bubble she gave him he says her name. It really is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. He is still talking up a gibberish storm. He is saying a few new words. He started saying names more (except his brothers). He can say Aunalie (aunie) and he will say all of the triplets names and of course Emma. He started to put his hands out and shrug his shoulders in the * I don't know* position when I ask him to find something and he can't. It is pretty funny. He has also mastered putting his riding toy in front of whatever he wants to climb on. (ie he will put it in front of the chair or couch so he can step on it to get onto the couch or chair) Silly boy. He is going to fall one of these days and it won't be a good idea anymore.
Camden Camden Camden. He is making his momma crazy. His sleep habits are atrocious, he is super sensitive, and when he cries it makes your ears ring it is so loud. First of all his sleeping has gotten worse. He now wakes up several times a night, not to eat but to fuss. We are trying different things but the only common denominator is that I am super freakin tired. He has his 4 month appointment next week and we will be discussing if we can let him cry it out and not feed him at all. Wish us luck cause when we start it is going to be a rough couple of days at the Scribner house. I am ready to do the cry it out method cause I can't take much more of the lack of sleep. I don't know how anyone can do this for the first 6 months or the entire first year. I will say that when he is well rested and well fed he is a super happy fun baby. He laughed for the first time this last week when I was playing with him and tickling him. He is loving his brother more and more. He can be content for a while just watching him play. Plus Carter has had more interest in bringing him toys and interacting with him as well. Carter thinks it is funny when Camden smiles at him.
Well that is about all I know. Sorry for all the photos. That is what happens when you are behind. I hope you all had a great mothers day, and visit my friend christy's blog to see her funny mother's day cartoon she posted. ( go down 3 posts and you will see it)
